Gold Coast Rapid Transit
The proposed rapid transit mode options, bus rapid or light rail transit, represent a great leap forward for public transport on the Gold Coast. The modes of transit will be new to the city and a 3D animation of both modes travelling through Southport and Broadbeach is now available for viewing below. The clips provide an accurate visual representation of the transit system in operation in both Southport and Broadbeach. The clips will also highlight the proposed station locations and demonstrate the system's interaction with cars and pedestrians.

Quick facts about the rapid transit system
- Services will run every seven to eight minutes in the early years of the system
- Stations will be located all along the populated coastal strip
- The system is expected to operate 24 hours per day
- Services will be fast and efficient, rapid transit vehicles can travel up to 70km per hour in selected corridors
- The rapid transit system has its own dedicated corridor so over 95% of services are anticipated to run on-time
- All stations will feature 'real time' passenger information technology to make public transport easier to catch
- Passengers using the system will be able to use their TransLink Transit Authority go card or purchase tickets either from the stations or once they are on-board.
